Well, of course the kids got out of school and then we had company show up and now we're about ready to leave on vacation. Factor work into all of that and you'll know why I haven't been posting.
Oh yeah and that pesky little foot problem! I can't believe it wasn't broken. I've had sprains, particularly ankles, since high school and they've never felt THAT bad! When I went flying and then came down and heard the pop, I thought, "Oh crap, now I've done it!" I hobbled around that night but thought, oh, it's ok, I'll probably have a nasty bruise and that's it. But waking up at 4am due to pain wasn't something I expected! I waited until a little after 5am to wake up my husband to tell him I thought I needed to go to the doctor and I wasn't sure if I could drive myself. (Right foot is the gas foot and all) I knew that they'd tell me they had something available around 9am, I just knew it. That was the time my Uniques were supposed to be released. When I called at 7am, I was right, 9:15am. So I had to send out an emergency newsletter letting everyone know why I was cancelling. I felt just horrible as people had posted they were looking for one or I'd gotten emails about them. I was amazed at the support that poured in via email and the message board! I mean, people that hadn't ordered from me before, but got the newsletter, took time out of their busy schedules to send a little "hope you feel better, don't worry about the fabric" email! It was absolutely wonderful! The stitching community is just amazing.
I didn't get much stitching done over the last few weeks for the reasons listed in the first paragraph, but here is a picture from a couple of weeks ago:![]()
This is the pic I took this morning:![]()
I finished up a couple of tombstones, got the owl finished up (except the beads) and outlined, finished up the fence and started the walkway to the house. The steps are done (but not outlined) and the doorway is done (but not outlined). It's not alot of stitching, just alot of changing threads!
Vacation starts for me later this week! We're not sure of the exact date. It'll be either Thursday or Friday. It wasn't going to be until June 18, but when my husband called his parents to let them know the dates, they told us that my sister in law is going to be there for a long weekend...the 14-18! So since my husband, having exercises, inspections, and a deployment last summer, hasn't seen them for a couple of years, we bumped up the date so we can get there before they go. The big kicker is if they'll let him leave or not. Unfortunately, his boss is away at this time as well as the guy who is directly under him, leaving my hubby in charge until Monday the 18th (the date we were originally leaving anyway). So now it's a matter of if the guy above DH's boss will let the shop go for one day without his rank or higher there to supervise! It's a Friday and usually they cut out early anyway, so he's hoping they'll have him work Thursday and we can leave that night and drive part of the way, stay in a hotel, and drive the rest of the way Friday getting there Friday evening. If not, we'll do the same thing Friday night after work I suppose. We'll get there Saturday evening and get to spend one day with them before they leave. I hope we get the whole weekend with them though!
We're planning on being back around the 4th sometime. That could mean anywhere from a couple of days before the 4th to a couple of days after. I'm not exactly sure yet. Since we're leaving early, you'd think we'd get back early, but we may stop off in Kansas and visit some friends of ours there for a day or two as well. I guess we're living spur of the moment the next couple of weeks. I hate that. I'm a big PLANNER!
We're going to have limited internet access while there though. My in laws have dial up and so does most of my family. I did get asked to make an appearance at a cross stitching retreat being held in Indianapolis, so that'll be fun!
Meanwhile, I'd better go and get as many orders done as possible and get laundry done and start packing and all that good stuff!
